13,500 years ago - What geologists refer to as the Port Huron Glacial Advance pushes the ice cap as far south as Port Huron. A 2-mile-high wall of ice would have towered above what is now the southern lobe of Lake Huron.

Today - Feb. 4, 2007 - is Port Huron's Sesquicentennial, the 150th anniversary of the city's incorporation on Feb. 4, 1857. While the significance is obvious, other dates also could stake a claim as the starting point of the community we know today.
